Build A Mass Email List In 7 Easy Steps

Build A Mass Email List In 7 Easy Steps

Posted on 04. Aug, 2011 by in Content Marketing

Building a mass email list of subscribers who join your email newsletter or e-zine doesn’t have to be as difficult you may think.

In fact, it really is quite simple.

Internet marketers love to build email lists to keep in touch with their website visitors and subscribers because it is a great way to leverage all the traffic that comes to their websites. Go about this the right way and you can easily build a following of eager subscribers, but go about this the wrong way and you risk loosing subscribers and ruining your online reputation.

Mass Email List

Before you jump in, here are a few tips that can help you save money and time when starting your own mass email list

Get Autoresponder & Use Opt-in Forms – Subscribe to a reputable email marketing/autoresponder service such as GetResponse, AWeber, or iContact. Put your opt-in box on your website or landing page in a place that is clearly visible once a visitor comes to your site. Once a visitor opts-in (fills out name, email, or other data) you should provide them with a free opt-in gift.

Provide Opt-in Gift – reward your visitors for sharing their email with you by providing them with something of value at no cost to them. This gives your visitors who fill out your opt-in form a chance to get to know more about you and the type of information or service that you provide without having to make a huge investment of money.

Some examples of an opt-in gift include:

  • free white paper or report
  • free audio
  • free video training
  • free webinar
  • free software
  • free consultation
  • free e-course
  • etc.

Provide Value – provide content that helps your subscribers. Do not fill your subscribers inbox with junk, spam, or constant offers (or you’ll loose subscribers fast). The key here is to gain trust and build relationships by showcasing yourself as a solution provider. And always respect your subscribers by respecting their email privacy.

Get your messages delivered – increase likelihood by encouraging the double opt-in which means sending them an email where they must click a link to confirm they want to receive emails from you & use an email address with your own domain. Once you have done this, then create at least 2 months worth of emails that you load into your autoresponder to send out to your subscribers in regular intervals (2-3 times per week)

Interact with your subscribers – encourage them to take steps with you (download free audios/e-books/etc.); encourage them to give feedback by rewarding them for their time in doing so, encourage them to pass along your articles, audios, videos, etc. by producing viral/entertaining/informative content that encourages sharing

Now that you have a plan in place for your mass email list, it is now time to get traffic to your opt-in box

  • Target your market (with a keyword tool) and determine if there is enough demand and whether this market is spending money – otherwise you wont get traffic or you won’t make any money
  • Market your site or landing page online – using methods such as paid advertising, search engine optimization, social media marketing, article marketing, etc.

Once you put all these steps into place, you will start to see a steady increase of visitors and subscribers checking out your content and your offers.

If you didn’t create the product … Meaning you are an affiliate … Some programs offer their affiliate with samples of blog post, emails, tweets, etc to use as a starting point to avoid having to write from scratch …

If it’s a product you really like use examples from other top affiliate marketers by subscribing to their lists – use a separate email account

If you dont like to write you can always record video, do screen captures, record audios, or hire a ghostwriter do put your thoughts into words, also look into quality PLR
